§ 9.06. SMOKING RESTRICTED .

Effective December 1, 1988, the smoking policy for the County shall be as follows:

(1)

No person shall smoke in any buildings owned, leased or rented by the County, except as follows:

(a)

The smoking policy as to residents only, but not employees, of County institutions, i.e., the jail, Clearview North and Clearview South, shall be established by the committee in charge of such institutions.

(b)

The committee of any department that deals with counseling or interrogation of members of the public may establish variations of the no smoking policy to permit smoking where this policy would be detrimental to such counseling or interrogations.

(2)

Department heads will be responsible for enforcement of these policies as to the employees of their department when such employees are in areas or work stations assigned to that particular department.

(3)

Failure to observe this policy shall be treated as a violation of a work rule and subject to progressive discipline.

(4)

No smoking shall be permitted in any County vehicle if 2 or more persons are present, except upon mutual consent of all persons present.
